ABSTRACT: This document contains the Telcordia view of proposed generic requirements for the use of the Integrated Services Digital Network User Part (ISUP) of Signaling System No. 7 (SS7) by a switch to support the Release to Pivot (RTP) Phase I network capability. The RTP Phase I network capability described in this GR is based on and consistent with the RTP network capability defined in T1S1 standards, American National Standard for Telecommunications - Signaling System Number 7 (SS7) - Release to Pivot (RTP). The RTP Phase I network capability permits an RTP switch that has received a call from another RTP switch, and has determined that the call should be connected to a destination switching system other than itself, to optionally release the call back to the switch earlier in the call path. Sufficient information is provided in the release to enable the new connection to be established from the earlier switch. The RTP Phase I network capability supports redirection services, such as sent-paid Directory Assistance Call Completion (DACC), that only require the signaling of a routing number in the release.
