This Generic Requirements (GR) document updates the transmission requirements and objectives of the LATA Switching Systems Generic Requirements (LSSGR). The focus has been changed from switches for analog networks to switches for digital Public Switched Telephone Networks (PSTNs). In this GR, text, tables, and figures have been deleted or replaced with material applicable to a digital PSTN. The generic requirements and objectives in this document are intended to be consistent with American National Standards Institutes (ANSI) T1.508-1992.
