ABSTRACT: GR-531 replaces TR-TSY-000531, Issue 2, but contains NO TECHNICAL CHANGES from that original document. It has been issued strictly to
conform with the new Telcordia Technologies document format and GR process, and carries a new issue number and date.
This Generic Requirements (GR) document provides feature requirements that include Verification Connections, 3C-Type Operator
Switchboard Interface, Direct Trunk Interface to Interexchange Carrier (IC) Operator System and the Interface to Local Telephone
Company Operator Services System.
Verification service is a feature that permits operators to establish a connection to a customer's line to verify a busy condition.
Operator access for verification is provided over dedicated facilities and special verification trunks that interconnect local offices
and operator systems.
3C-Type Operator Switchboard Interface service provides operator services in applications where operator services systems are not
available. On an outgoing call, the calling customer dials zero (0) and is connected to a switchboard operator who directly assists in
the completion of the call. On an incoming call, the local office receives the call from the operator switchboard to terminate calls
that require operator assistance.
The Direct Trunk Interface to Interexchange Carrier (IC) Operator System consists of hardware and software arrangements provided to
establish compatibility between the local office and the operator system.
The capabilities of the Interface to Local Telephone Company Operator Services System include allowing all types of traffic to be
routed to the operator services system on the same trunk groups, the forwarding of the interLATA carrier code (if any) to the operator
services system, and the passing of special operator services system signals between the switching system and the operator services
