A Two-Way Frequency Shift Keying Capability for the ADSI

Document Number SR-3462
Issue Number 01
Issue Date Feb 1995

ABSTRACT: This Special Report (SR) clarifies the material in SR-TSV-002697, An Encryption Capability for the Analog Display Service
, to provide general guidelines for an Analog Display Services Interface (ADSI) two-way binary, continuous phase,
Frequency Shift Keying (FSK) data communications capability. This two-way FSK modem is based on and uses essentially the same data
communications protocol as the advanced encryption capability described in Sections 3, 4, 5, and 6 of SR-TSV-002697. This capability is
recommended to the industry to provide an interim means to provide higher ADSI data communications throughput, particularly for
applications requiring considerable data to be transmitted from the Customer Premises Equipment (CPE) to the Server, while retaining
the ADSI alternate voice/data capability important for advanced screen telephony.
