ADSI Credit and Debit Card Reader and Pin Entry Pad CPE Compatibility Considerations
Document Number SR-3655
Issue Number 01
Issue Date Jan 1996
ABSTRACT: To support service providers who wish to implement financial applications such as home banking and bill-paying applications using
Analog Display Services Interface (ADSI), compatibility considerations for an ADSI-compatible, optional credit-card and debit-card
magnetic stripe swipe reader must be provided. This device must also have an associated user account Personal Identification Number
(PIN) entry keypad for encrypted
transmission of the user's debit card PIN.
This Special Report (SR) is intended primarily to describe the Telcordia view of an ADSI-compatible, optional credit-card and
debit-card magnetic stripe swipe reader with associated PIN entry key pad for encrypted transmission of the user's debit-card PIN and
perhaps the card Personal Account Number (PAN).
This transmission would be from the ADSI Customer Premises Equipment (CPE) to a secure Host Security Module (HSM) - also called a
Tamper-Resistant Security Module (TRSM) - associated with a server that is supporting financial applications.
