Local Number Portability (LNP) and Generic Data Encapsulation Network Element Configuration Management Using CMISE
Document Number SR-4384
Issue Number 4B
Issue Date Sep 2000
ABSTRACT: The purpose of this Special Report (SR) is to provide the definition of a Common Management Information Protocol (CMIP) interface that
can be used to perform configuration management of network elements (e.g., Signaling Transfer Points (STPs)). The main focus is on a
network element Management Information Base (MIB) used for Local Number Portability (LNP) and Number Pooling. However, as an interim
measure for other types of configuration management information, encapsulation for arbitrary messages (e.g., GR-310 messages) using
Common Management Information Service Element (CMISE) is specified.
This document extends SR-4251, NetPilot(TM)-STP Interface for Administration of STP-Based Local Number Portability (LNP)
Translations, by describing LNP element management using CMISE. The following areas are covered: protection switching, LNP
configuration management operations, throttling, configuration management of Service Control Point (SCP) replicates, local craft
autonomous notifications, timers, security, system fault detection, encapsulation, and information model version negotiations.
Issue 4B replaces SR-4384, Issue 4.
