archive - Information Modeling Concepts and Guidelines

Document Number SR-OPT-001826
Issue Number 01
Issue Date Jan 1991

ABSTRACT: Information models are used to describe information (data + behavior) independently of how it is stored or used. This Special Report
(SR) presents the view of Telcordia on both conceptual and applied aspects of information modeling. The concepts present foundations
    for the information
modeling guidelines. In particular, the interrelationships between "semantic" and "object" information modeling are dealt with from a
common perspective. It is shown that information modeling is equivalent to building and using an object class library and, more
specifically, semantic modeling is equivalent to building and using a library of very general, precisely defined, reusable concepts
(i.e., a generic object class library).
