Document Number TA-TSY-000083
Issue Number 02
Issue Date Apr 1986
ABSTRACT: Most of the local loops in the Digital Data System (DDS) are terminated in an Office Channel Unit (OCU). Existing OCUs, arranged in
various combinations, interface with subrate multiplexers or interface directly with high-level multiplexers. The OCU is presented in
this document as a standalone device providing signal conversion between the customer loop and the DDS network. Although the
information in this document has been in existence for many years, it has never been assembled into a single document intended for
The purpose of this Technical Advisory (TA) is to stimulate the development and manufacture of Digital Data System (DDS) equipment
for the Local Exchange Carriers (LECs) and other service providers. Identification is made of the minimal technical requirements that
must be met to ensure satisfactory operation of an OCU assembly within the existing DDS network and are presented as transfer functions
between the applicable interfaces.
