ABSTRACT: This document replaces TA-NWT-001219.

This Technical Reference (TR) identifies the Telcordia view of generic technical requirements of capabilities to test Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) Primary Rate Access (PRA) from the Local Exchange Carrier (LEC) switch to Customer Premises Equipment (CPE). The ISDN PRA transport architectures supported by these requirements are those in which the 1.544-Mb/s PRA signal from the customer installation terminates at the switch. It also identifies functions that, in the view of Telcordia, should be included in an ISDN switch and/or other Network Elements to support test functions at the Physical Layer (Layer 1). Many of the test capabilities may either be integrated into NEs or may be provided by a stand-alone test system.

Revision 1 adds text to clarify which test signal patterns are required. These test patterns, although required in Issue 1 of this TR, were not explicitly listed until now. This list is based on a T1M1 draft technical report, "A Technical Report on Test Patterns for DS1 Circuits."
