ABSTRACT: The air feeder pipe, which is basically a plastic tube with a bonded aluminum liner, is used to supply dry air to the aircore cable network. The bonded aluminum liner serves as a moisture permeation barrier, increases pipe strength, and improves formability. The dry air, which is supplied at a pressure of approximately 10 PSIG (Pounds per Square Inch Gauge), prevents water from entering through cable sheath and joint faults.
