This Technical Reference (TR) provides the Telcordia view of generic requirements for service terminal closures used for optical cable. Service terminal closures are intended for use in the outside plant environment for ground-level (Pedestal), handhole, pole-mounted, or aerial strand installations. The basic function of a service terminal closure is to provide a Service Access Point (SAP) between the loop distribution cable and the customer service cable.

This document includes generic requirements, desired features and characteristics of a terminal design, and the recommended tests for comparing the product against the generic requirements.
